Week 11

HI. By continuing different experimentation of approach to seek the most effective and efficient way
This blog will be updating the continuation of progress of my experimentation and prototyping mainly focusing on the visuals and graphics.
3D progress
After spending more time in doing iterations on the 3D scene, I started to get the hang of the modelling functions in Blender. Especially after going through numerous tutorials on YouTube mainly from Blender Guru and Polygon Runway.
Instead of approaching the 3D model from the inside, which took 3 days of struggle. I decided to approach it from the outside, model it like a diorama instead.

2D progress
I manage to finish all the alphabets for the typeface that I intended to do.
I tried adding this typeface into the prototype wireframes to have a better look at it

The overall visual looks fine to me, however, when it is place together with the entire microsite, it doesn't really go well with it. The 2D art style from landing page sort of clashes with the 3D art style in the State page.
I am starting to have doubts with this approach of typeface, I will need further research on references and maybe approach a different direction.

Typography
I feel like instead of 2D, I could approach a more 3D style for the typeface. My first inspiration was from the perspective top view, however, I have a feeling that the orthographic front and top view would merge more nicely with the overall composition of the landing page.
2D + 3D
I have also done some research and analysis on how 2D graphics can blend well with 3D graphics. Instead of everything being 3D modelled, I was thinking to bring in some 2D graphics to show more character.
From the references, it can be seen that usually when there's 3D graphics involve, the 2D graphics will be more subtle and not stand out too much to clash with the 3D graphics. Basically from the references, the 2D graphics uses very subtle outline and flat colors. Even though there's shading, it will be simple ones to make the flat graphics pop a little, but nothing too complicated or detailed.
I'll need to do more experimentation to have a final decision on the art style.
That's all for now, in the next blog, I'll be updating the preparation made for the design and prototype review and also my thoughts and further plans.
